Forever 21 Retro Femme 2013 Swim Collection

I am so loving the Forever 21 2013 Retro Femme Swim Collection, especially the prices!  My only gripe is that I wish there were more one-pieces to choose from. How I would love a one-piece in the retro, cherry or flamingo prints!

Crosley Collegiate Turntable

 

I'm very enamored with Crosley Radio's Collegiate Turntable. Even though it's dressed up all 50s-like, it's very modern. You can connect it to your computer via the built-in USB port to digitize your vinyl. And it's portable too! There's a leather handle attached to the back. I hope Crosley offers it in more colors in the future (like ahem, pink!) but I would certainly take this red version any day!

I love how this photo captures so much of what the 1950s embody to me. A car hop (roller skating waitress), a classic car, teens on a date at a drive-in restaurant, the girl wearing a fancy dress accessorized with white gloves and a flouncy scarf around her ponytail...so much awesomeness in this one photo!

 Trowbridge Gallery is selling framed prints of this photo on their website to UK residents. I have yet to find a place that sells this print in the US but I will keep looking. I would love to hang this up in my office!

Vintage Roadside T-Shirts

Harley Earl's Mid-Century Office

Maaaaaaaaaan, I wish this was my office! This office actually belonged to Harley Earl, Vice President of Design at General Motors (and the father of the tailfin!!!!!) back in the 50s. Tiki Modern by Sven A. Kirsten is finally out!!! If you love tiki, kitsch and anything retro, you will love this book. A follow up to Kirsten's excellent The Book Of Tiki (Midsize). Since I grew up in an Eichler, I have a special fondness for all types of mid-century architecture, particularily homes such as the one my parents own. There are quite a few design/architecture magazines out there that focus on the modern and post-modern, but my favorite of the bunch is Atomic Ranch Magazine.
