Disneyland Forever CDs

My Disneyland Forever CD

Does anyone remember when Disneyland had the Disneyland Forever cd kiosks back in the late 90s? I loved being able to make custom cds with Disneyland music and/or sounds of my choosing!

From the back of the cd:

When guests recall their day at Disneyland, their first thoughts are probably of the attractions and environments that they have seen.

But of equal importance are the sounds that they have heard. From the call of the train conductor at Main Street Station and the exotic pounding of jungle drums in Adventureland to the richly layered soundtracks of its famous attractions, the sounds of "The Happiest Place On Earth" play a key role in the Disneyland experience.

To commemorate more than 40 years of magic, Disneyland® Forever offers a rare selection of classic Disneyland soundtracks. Here is your personal collection of musical memories to enjoy today and in years to come.

With special thanks to all the Imagineers, past and present, who have created the timeless sights, sounds and music of Disneyland® Park.

This compilation is dedicated to Jack Wagner, known to millions as the "Voice of Disneyland."

The Fairytale Suite at the Disneyland Hotel

The Disneyland Hotel has a few signature suites but this is the only one I REALLY want to stay in. I especially love that upon entering the suite, guests are "delighted by pixe dust and the appearance of Tinker Bell, who illuminates a crystal castle encased in the wall. A marble foyer descends into an enormous bedroom overlooking the entire resort through floor-to-ceiling windows."

Will Disney Ditch Tom Sawyer Island for a 'Lost' Ride?

Omg this sounds like the best idea ever!!

From TheWrap.com:

A group of die-hard "Lost" fans is urging Disney to pay homage to ABC's "Lost" by building a ride based on the show at one of its theme parks.

A crazy idea? Not to "Lost" overlords Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, who've seemed to endorse the idea by backing  an online petition urging Disney to consider the idea.

The budding Internet movement began with a "Lost" fan named Jon Stueve, who suggested the concept by arguing that "Disney should give this awesome show its due" by creating a "Lost Island" at either Disneyland or Disney World.

Lindelof and Cuse apparently agree: They've both indicated, via their respective Twitter feeds, that they're on board.

"Consider the petition signed!" wrote Lindelof Tuesday.

Cuse, meanwhile, gave thumbs up as well.

"While I like the idea of Tom Sawyer's island getting a LOST do-over, I'd rather see Disney make a big LOST E-ticket ride," the producer wrote. (Disney revamped Tom Sawyer Island a few years ago; it's now officially Pirate's Lair at Tom Sawyer Island).

As of early Wednesday morning, the petition has attracted about 1500 signatures. But the idea could be going viral: Yahoo! featured a link to a blog post about the movement on its homepage Tuesday night.

So what would a "Lost Island" look like? The petition suggested including the following show landmarks in any design:

--The frozen donkey wheel behind the Orchid Station testing chamber.
- -The Swan station and Hatch ride
-- A submarine ride to Palu Ferry.
-- Dharmaville Barracks.
-- Smoke monster
- -Jacob's Cabin.

Disney these days has shown more of a willingness to turn park attractions into filmed entertainment than vice versa. But "Lost" clearly has a big fan base, making the notion of some sort of attraction not completely insane -- particularly since Cuse and Lindelof have indicated they're not behind the notion of a movie or spinoff series after the show signs off in May.

Stay tuned.

The Game of LIFE - Haunted Mansion "Welcome to the After-LIFE" Disney Theme Park Edition

The new Haunted Mansion version of the classic board game, LIFE, looks like all kinds of scary fun!

Here are some spook-tacular facts about the game!
(from The Art of Disney Parks)

- The game board centers on extending the stories of the four stretch paintings found within the Haunted Mansion.
- Elements from inside and outside the Mansions tucked with in the game board. Can you find the musical instruments? "Tomb Sweet Tomb?" Transformation paintings? Tombstones? Busts from the library, the pet cemetery, the ghosts and ghouls, the five roses?
- The buildings include the Haunted Mansion from Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Paris (aka Phantom Manor), a crypt, a carriage house, the Grounds Keepers shack, and a BOO-niversity. The buildings and spinner are glow-in-the-dark.
- The spinner is inspired by Madam Leota's table, complete with tarot cards on the table, a melted candle on the spinner and a raven who watches your every move.
- The bridges hold a few surprises of their own...
- The movers are modified Doombuggies, to hold you and your "passengers" along the path of the After-LIFE.
- Also included are new elements not found at the Mansions but would certainly be found at the Gracey Estate.
- The "Scareer" cards have images of the classic spirits residing in the Haunted Mansion and a few more that have long since been unseen, until now.
- And of course, there are Hidden Mickey's - see how many you can find on the game board and on the cover.

$39.95 @ Disney Store and at the Disney theme parks

Disneyland's "It's A Small World" new lighting!

I love what Disneyland has done with the lighting for "It's A Small World"!! Every time a train passes by the attraction, the lighting on the facade changes into a rainbow of colors. Ahh so beautiful! This video reminds me that I am long overdue for a trip there...

The Disneyland Hotel!

One of my favorite places on this whole planet is Disneyland. I am, in fact, such a fan of the park and its creator, Walt Disney, that I probably border on fanatic! Everything about the park intrigues me, from the rides to the hotels to the history of how it all came to be. Finally, there is a book about the early history of the Disneyland Hotel. It's called Disneyland Hotel: The Early Years 1954-1988 by Donald W. Ballard. The book is incredible! For a full run-down on everything that's discussed in the book, visit MagicalHotel.com. There's a lot of great stuff on the website too, including scans that you won't find in the book, such as rare brochures and pictures of the hotel. If you are totally diggin' the rare pics, you can even purchase them as 5x7 or 8x10 prints.

The book retails for $47.50 USD.
